It does NOT include all information about the possible uses, directions, warnings, precautions, interactions, adverse effects, or risks that may apply to probenecid.
Probenecid may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Probenecid may also reduce plasma binding of urate and inhibit renal secretion of uric acid at subtherapeutic concentrations.
MedDRA and ICD10 ids are provided for adverse effect conditions and symptoms. In patients on probenecid and colchicine the use of salicylates in either small or large doses is contraindicated because it antagonizes the uricosuric action of probenecid.
It will not treat a sudden severe attack of gout and may make it worse. Probenecid should not be used in children younger than 2 years. It inhibits the reabsorption of urate at the proximal convoluted tubule, thus increasing the urinary excretion of uric acid and decreasing serum urate levels.
Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

Your doctor may recommend that you do not drink any alcohol while you are on this medicine.
Concurrent use of purine analogs with other agents which cause bone marrow or immune suppression such as other antineoplastic agents or immunosuppressives may result in additive effects.
