Avoid concomitant use of idelalisib, a strong CYP3A inhibitor, with tinidazole, a CYP3A substrate, as tinidazole toxicities may be significantly increased.
Although no data have been reported with tinidazole, another nitroimidazole agent, metronidazole, has been reported to be carcinogenic in toxicity studies in rats.
Its use should be reserved for the conditions described in INDICATIONS AND USAGE. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal, antibacterial agent. Another way to make water safe is by filtering it through an absolute 1 micron or less filter and dissolving iodine tablets in the filtered water. Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms including fungi.
Use cautiously until prostate cancer is ruled out.
An acute overdose of any amount in infants or young children, especially, must be considered serious and potentially fatal.
The potential risks versus clinical need should be assessed prior to using this drug in children and adolescents.
