Ethionamide has received FDA approval for the treatment of tuberculosis in patients resistant or intolerant to other medications.

Before using

Ask your doctor before use if you are taking the following medications:

  • atenolol
  • latanoprost
  • medroxyprogesterone
  • orlistat
  • tizanidine

Pregnancy

  • None of the prospectively reported anomalies in the United States antiretroviral pregnancy registry or the French cohort were similar to those in the animal study or case reports.
  • Those with cardiovascular abnormalities may be at risk of aortic dissection, and prepregnancy screening for preexisting dilation of the aortic root is therefore recommended.
