Michael Barrios, Ph.D.

 

Ph.D., Yale University, 1987

Dr. Barrios is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist treating adults, adolescents, children, and couples.  He treats patients in cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented psychotherapy.  Dr. Barrios currently serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine (1989-present).   He was formerly a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Yale Psychiatric Institute (1987-89), a psychologist at the Adolescent Crisis Unit for Treatment and Evaluation at the Hospital of St. Raphael (1989-95), and a clinical collaborator on substance abuse research at the APT Foundation (1987 - 2000).  Dr. Barrios specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and issues related to adult development and creativity.

Kim DeMatteo, L.C.S.W.

Kim DeMatteo,  LCSW,  is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience treating adults, couples, adolescents, and children.  Prior to establishing a full-time private practice, Ms DeMatteo served as Program Director for Children’s Services in Washington State (1986-1989), and worked as a  social worker for HOSPICE of Southeastern Connecticut (1990-1994).  Ms. DeMatteo has specialized expertise and advanced training in life transition, loss and bereavement issues, women's mental health issues, as well as interpersonal marital therapy.

Lisa Silberstein, Ph.D.

Lisa Silberstein, Ph.D.,  is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist treating adults, adolescents, and couples.  Her practice integrates cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented psychotherapy approaches.  In the past, Dr. Silberstein served as  Clinical Supervisor in the Yale Department of Psychology (1987-2009), Clinical Director of the Yale Eating Disorders Clinic (1987-91),  and Assistant Director of the Yale Psychological Services Clinic (1983-85).  She has published and lectured on a variety of psychological issues.   Dr. Silberstein has specialized expertise in the treatment of depression and anxiety, eating disorders, women's mental health issues, adult development and work/family balance.

Ms. Hale-Rose is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker treating adolescents and adults. Her experiences include serving as a Treatment Coordinator at the Saint Francis Home for Children (1994-95) and as a Primary Clinician/Family Therapist at the Adolescent Evaluation and Crisis Intervention Program at the Yale Psychiatric Institute (1994-97). Ms. Hale-Rose specializes in the treatment of adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Ms. Gardner is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Connecticut and California and a Diploma Psychologist in her native country of Germany.  Ms. Gardner treats children and adults.   She worked for Child and Family Services and for the Department of Education in California and Hawaii, providing therapy services for adults, children with special needs, and  gifted children and their families.  Since 2008, Ms. Gardner has worked in private practice in Essex, Connecticut.  Ms. Gardner specializes in adult relational problems, depression, anxiety, and life in transition.
